This week: Congress in recess, NCUA diversity self-assessment opens

Congress is back in their home districts until after the Nov. 5 election, after passing a bill to fund the federal government through Dec. 20 last week. President Biden signed the bill on Thursday. Leagues and credit unions will be connecting with members back in the states as the agenda for the final weeks of the 118th Congress takes shape.

Today, NCUA will host its webinar on the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, which partners credit unions to offer free tax preparation to qualified consumers.

The webinar will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, and registration is still open.

Also, NCUA will invite credit unions to conduct its voluntary diversity self-assessment starting Tuesday. The assessment helps the agency identify successful diversity policies and programs; and guide the development of technical assistance, guidance, and resources to advance diversity and inclusion within the credit union system.
