In district meetings continue

Dozens of Texas credit union leaders met with Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas during an in-district meeting at First Service Credit Union in Houston August 8.  The meet-and-greet brought 40 credit union leaders together with Hunt, who chairs the House Small Business Subcommittee on Rural Development, Energy, and Supply Chains.

The group discussed the credit union tax status, opposition to the Big Box Interchange bill, overregulation from the CFPB, and the importance of continued advocacy to achieve credit unions’ policy goals.

Along with First Service Credit Union and Cornerstone League, other attendees represented Credit Human FCU, Houston Texas Fire Fighters, Shell Federal Credit Union, SPCO Credit Union, Transtar FCU, and Welby Financial.

Credit unions and leagues are busy advocating throughout the August recess with policymakers in home districts. Missouri credit unions met with Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., last week, and Community Resource Credit Union hosted a meet and greet with Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, for members.

America’s Credit Unions continues to encourage credit unions to reach out to their state Leagues and the America’s Credit Unions Advocacy Team for assistance in arranging meetings with lawmakers and access to advocacy resources, talking points, one-pagers, and more.
