The NCUA announced several events and activities that are scheduled over the course of June in recognition of Minority Depository Institution (MDI) Awareness Month to highlight the essential role MDIs play in their communities.
The activities include:
- a webinar on June 5 that will discuss the requirements for the MDI designation and the MDI business model;
- a webinar on June 18 that will feature presentations from credit unions and credit union leagues about how MDIs serve their communities;
- the release of the agency’s 2023 MDI Annual Report to Congress;
- outreach to potential MDIs about the process and benefits of designation; and
- updates on the NCUA’s online training, resources, and support programs tailored to MDIs.
