Leagues and credit unions continued to meet with elected officials in Washington, D.C., before Congress returns to their districts to campaign.
The Credit Union Association of New Mexico, along with Financial Security Credit Union, Roswell Community Federal Credit Union, First Financial Credit Union, Kirtland Federal Credit Union, and Guadalupe Credit Union, met with Reps. Melanie Stansbury, D-N.M., and Dabe Vasquez, D-N.M., while in D.C.
The FORUM Credit Union board and executive management team traveled to Washington, D.C., for a planning retreat that included visits with Sen. Mike Braun, R-Ind., and NCUA Chairman Todd Harper; as well as a visit to Credit Union House.
“As we make our plans for serving FORUM’s members, we wanted our team to spend time focused on the importance of advocacy and understanding the legislative and regulatory challenges and opportunities facing credit unions,” said FORUM Credit Union CEO Doug True. “We had a great experience.”
Other Congressional visits include those organized by the Ohio Credit Union League with Senate Banking Committee Chair Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio; League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) with Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., and Reps. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., Brian Mast, R-Fla., Dale Strong, R-Ala., and Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla.; GoWest Credit Union Association with Sens. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Patty Murray, D-Wash., Jim Risch, R-Idaho, Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., and many members of the House; Cooperative Credit Union Association with Reps. Gabe Amo, D-R.I., and Seth Magaziner, D-R.I.; and the Carolinas Credit Union League with House Financial Services Chairman Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., and most of both states’ Congressional delegations.
