Grassroots efforts intensify while lawmakers are local
Congress is in recess the next two weeks, presenting the opportunity to keep momentum in the Don’t Tax My Credit Union campaign and prevent tax language making its way into the budget reconciliation bill. Credit unions are encouraged to engage with lawmakers locally, taking action as both a constituent and credit union advocate. The easiest way to get involved is to take action directly on the Don’t Tax My Credit Union website, contacting lawmakers with a pre-written template that is ready to personalize.
The link to the easy-to-use template can be shared on your website, in direct communication with staff, board, members, and through other outreach, encouraging people to weigh in and share their story of why lawmakers should protect credit unions.
Utilize these various resources in your meetings and as supplements to direct emails to members of Congress from you, your staff, board, and members:
- Grassroots Handbook: This new resource, focused on the Don’t Tax My Credit Union effort, provides the basics of how to mobilize members and success stories from credit unions.
- Don’t Tax My Credit Union resource center, which includes the Member Activation Program: Plug-and-play resources to reach out, engage, and activate your members in advocacy efforts.
- Credit Union Impact Dashboard: Access data that illustrates the credit union difference.
Press kits with sample op-eds and letters to the editor, social media graphics and copy, campaign logos, and even pre-designed Don’t Tax My Credit Union cards that members can sign to show support for this campaign are available on the America’s Credit Unions website.
