Ohio Credit Union League hosts Rep. Jordan
Congress is back in their home districts for spring recess the next two weeks, providing more opportunities for leagues and credit unions to hold local, in-person meetings and reinforce the Don’t Tax My Credit Union message and potential impact on members.
In advance of the recess, Ohio Credit Union League hosted a roundtable at Bridge Credit Union with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. The group of credit union leaders emphasized the opportunities and challenges facing credit unions in Ohio’s 4th Congressional District.
“The Ohio Credit Union League knows how critical the credit union tax status is to our members, so we've been hard at work doing what we do best: connecting Ohio credit unions to their elected leaders to share their stories,” said Emily Leite, chief advocacy officer at the Ohio Credit Union League.
Many of the examples credit union advocates shared with Rep. Jordan centered on the credit union tax status and how it is the foundation of credit unions’ ability to reinvest in their communities and stay focused on the member.
“We're working closely with our credit unions to remind our congressional representatives about the meaningful and tangible community benefits that credit unions provide and the importance of maintaining the current tax status to make sure those community investments can continue," continued Leite.
In addition to in-person outreach, contacting legislative offices via email through the Don’t Tax My Credit Union website is an ongoing effort for staff, board and credit union members to share their concerns with members of Congress.
