Reaching out to members: Credit union engages with successful member advocacy program
Mid Oregon Credit Union doesn’t hold back in engaging their members in grassroots advocacy. As highlighted in a new post on the America’s Credit Unions blog, the credit union uses the Member Activation Program (MAP) in its member engagement efforts. MAP is an integral part of the Don’t Tax My Credit Union campaign which, in conjunction with league partner efforts, has resulted in nearly 200,000 messages of support for the credit union tax status sent to policymakers.
The credit union, located in Bend, Ore., has implemented MAP for fifteen years, with only a 1% negative response or opt-out request rate to its nearly 30,000 emails sent to membership over that time. “If you have an engaged member, they will be more loyal and more active with the credit union," said Kyle Frick, senior vice president of marketing and community relations at Mid Oregon Credit Union.
Mid Oregon Credit Union's experience with MAP offers a clear blueprint for other credit unions aiming to modernize their advocacy efforts. The program's template-based approach makes it easy to launch campaigns like "Don't Tax My Credit Union," ensuring that every institution, regardless of size, can have a powerful voice.
MAP Don’t Tax My Credit Union resources include a press kit, handouts, and other resources to activate grassroots action.
