Rohit Chopra out as CFPB director
CFPB Director Rohit Chopra indicated the end of his term at the bureau on X Saturday morning. As of Sunday evening, an acting director has not been named, nor has an individual been nominated for the role. Trump’s nominee must be confirmed by the Senate.
America’s Credit Unions supports many separate proposals to legislatively change the structure of the CFPB, including moving to a board structure and a shift in funding.
The bureau may change its policies and rulemaking without Congressional action; calls to eliminate the agency entirely would require Congressional Action and a clear plan to implement existing consumer laws.
