A credit union witness is testifying Wednesday on behalf of America’s Credit Unions during a House Small Business Committee hearing focusing on how community financial institutions support Main Street. Mike Sims, chief commercial banking officer at Georgia’s Own Credit Union, will address how credit unions serve small businesses.

This is just one of several House and Senate committee hearings tackling topics of interest for credit unions on Capitol Hill. America’s Credit Unions has been vocal that credit unions must be included in important discussions involving the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) lending programs and community financial institutions. In a hearing before the House Financial Services Committee last week credit unions were mentioned several times by committee members, including the chairman.

America’s Credit Unions is also hosting an advocacy webinar tomorrow to provide updates on the latest out of Washington and the impact on credit unions. Free and open only to America's Credit Unions members (closed to press), the webinar is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern Tuesday.
