This week: Debanking, crypto hearings; NCUA webinar on 2025 supervisory priorities
Efforts are underway this week to amplify the Don’t Tax My Credit Union message with the White House. America’s Credit Unions’ Jim Nussle, Carrie Hunt and James Akin are scheduled to meet with the National Economic Council.
The House and Senate are both back in session. Multiple leagues and credit unions will meet with key tax writing committee members on Capitol Hill as part of our ongoing outreach on the credit union tax status.
Meetings of note this week:
- Wednesday: the Senate Banking Committee conducts a hearing titled "Investigating the Real Impacts of Debanking in America,” (livestream of the hearing will be available at 10 a.m. Eastern)
- America’s Credit Unions weighed in with legislative offices on the “Make Community Banking Great Again” House Financial Services Committee hearing, also scheduled Wednesday.
- Thursday: the House Financial Services Committee conducts a hearing entitled "Operation Choke Point 2.0: The Biden Administration's Efforts to Put Crypto in the Crosshairs,” (livestream of the hearing available at 2 p.m. Eastern)
The NCUA is holding an hour-long webinar on Thursday at 2 p.m. Eastern for credit unions interested in learning about the agency’s 2025 supervisory priorities. Register here for the free webinar.
