This week: Government funding deadline Friday
Congress is in session and will need to pass another continuing resolution or complete appropriations to avoid a government shutdown as current funding expires Friday.
America’s Credit Unions will continue to build on the momentum in Washington following the record-breaking Governmental Affairs Conference, where credit union leaders from all over the country engaged lawmakers in hundreds of Hill meetings.
While House Ways and Means Republicans are expected to start meeting to discuss their tax bill, the credit union movement is committed to protecting the industry’s tax status and ensuring more than 140 million consumers continue to have access to safe, affordable financial services.
Hearings of note happening this week include:
- Tuesday, the House Financial Services Committee will discuss the digital payments ecosystem;
- also Tuesday, the House Small Business Oversight, Investigations, and Regulations Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the Small Business Administration and Main Street; and
- Wednesday, the Senate Banking Committee will address housing affordability.
