Credit union-supported candidates win in Alaska, Florida and Wyoming primaries

Candidates supported by the America’s Credit Union PAC and state leagues won across three states Tuesday.

In Florida, the League of Southeastern Credit Union (LSCU) and America’s Credit Unions partnered to support candidate Mike Haridopolos (R) in the state’s 8th Congressional district to replace retiring Rep. Bill Posey, who did not seek re-election. Haridopolos won with 72% of the vote and looks ahead to the general election to secure the seat for next Congress.

Alaska and Wyoming are At-Large states – with credit union-supported candidates Mary Peltola in Alaska and Harriet Hageman in Wyoming both winning.

In Senate races, Sen. Rick Scott, R, will face Democratic challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in in Florida this November, while Sen. John Barrasso, R, won his primary race in Wyoming.

There are several state primaries ahead to determine ballots for the November election.  Massachusetts holds its primary on September 3, and the last primaries for the 2024 election cycle take place in three states on September 10 – Delaware, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
