Finance Council Committees

Committee Mission

The Conference Committee is responsible for the development, implementation and presentation of the Council's annual program. The committee determines the agenda, speakers, roundtable topics, breakout sessions and other activities related to the conference.

Key Functions

• Help identify the conference focus and flow, sessions and speakers
• Identify topics for the agenda that are timely and relevant to Council members
• Help identify speakers and subject matter experts that can cover desired topics
• Review videos of potential general session and keynote speakers to provide input on final selections
• Participate in the outreach to potential speakers - once identified and confirmed, the committee member is responsible for working with the speaker on the session title and description. The committee member will review the speaker's PowerPoint presentation to make sure it aligns with the agreed-upon description.
• Provide feedback and suggestions on potential networking, social activities and other value-added benefits for attendees
• Promote the conference to members and other potential attendees
• Assist speakers in clarifying session content and direction
• Introduce speakers during the conference

Conference Committee work may be divided into subcommittees or task groups focusing on specific aspects of the conference.

Time commitment

12-20 conference calls (60 minutes each). Commitment starts about 8 weeks after the current conference wraps. Much of the work takes place in the five to ten months prior to the conference date.

Annual Goal

Create an event that is well attended, achieves high ratings from attendees for content and networking, and meets or exceeds budgeted financial targets.

Committee Mission

The Engagement Committee is responsible for maximizing member participation in the Councils Community and promoting use of member resources.

Key Functions

• Stimulate member participation on the Councils Community by answering posts, providing personal touchpoints to new and existing members, and connecting members to America's Credit Unions resources
• Help drive awareness and consumption of Council member benefits like virtual roundtables, white papers, scholarships, awards, volunteer events, committee volunteering, and others as they arise.

Councils Engagement Committees will be conducted as cross-Council meetings. Individual Council Engagement Committees meet on an as-needed basis.

Time Commitment

Conference calls every six weeks (30-45 minutes each). Plan two to four hours per month throughout the year, unless special issues arise.

Action Items

• Follow posts in the Councils Community to answer questions and connect posts to Council resources like white papers, roundtables or educational offerings
• Perform personal outreach to members to encourage Councils Community involvement
• Encourage members to take action on Comment calls and requests for input
• Promote member benefit usage via Community posts

Committee Mission

The Member Resources Committee assists in the development, review and promotion of educational benefits and content for Council members.

Key Functions

• Based on current trends and hot topics, work closely with staff to identify and produce educational content for Council members, which can involve suggesting topics, generating ideas, finding and contacting speakers/authors, and moderating things like:
  • Articles
  • White papers
  • Virtual roundtables
  • Videos
  • Podcasts
• Help promote, drive awareness, and increase usage of all Council member resources.
• Review and recommend changes and improvements to the overall benefits and member resources.
• Identify member needs and gaps for new resources the Council might consider developing.
• Collaborate with America's Credit Unions Center for Professional Development (CPD) to generate ideas and endorse programs of interest to Council members by evaluating curricula and speakers.

Time Commitment

Average 2-3 hours per month yearly, including monthly 60-minute conference calls.

Committee Mission

The Membership Committee develops strategies and implements tactics related to onboarding, membership involvement, retention, and growth.

Key Functions

• Support efforts to attract new members
• Support member retention efforts
• Support actions/resources to increase and enhance member involvement
• Promote Council membership at industry events
• Leverage League relationships

Time Commitment

Conference calls every six weeks (60 minutes each). Additional time to conduct phone calls, emails and other contacts as determined by the committee, approximately 1-2 hours per month.

Councils Membership Committees will be conducted as cross-Council meetings. Individual Council Membership Committees meet on an as-needed basis.

Action Items

• Retention: Outreach through emails, phone calls or letters to all non-renewed parties during February and March
• Member promotion: Throughout the year, augment efforts of membership campaigns and activities with prospect emails and phone calls
• Onboarding and member involvement: Personally contacting new members by phone and email several times during the first four months of membership to welcome them, answer questions, encourage participation, and solicit feedback
• Surveying: Provide feedback to update and improve member survey annually; review the survey for improvements

Council staff provide contact lists and sample message templates for Committee members.

Committee Mission

The Sponsorship Committee works to attract and maintain relationships with quality vendors interested in sponsoring the Council at the annual conference. It also seeks ways to increase sponsorship opportunities for partners through the website, webinars and other programs.

Key Functions

• Develop strategies and take necessary actions to find new sponsors while nurturing existing sponsors allowing the Council to meet or exceed sponsor revenue goals for the annual conference
• Identify and contact vendors to determine areas of expertise and interest
• Determine actions and resources to increase and enhance sponsor involvement
• Conduct a post-conference sponsor survey to measure satisfaction and discover new ideas to add value for the sponsors
• Conduct a thank-you reception at the conference to celebrate and thank sponsors for their support as well as encourage feedback for an improved experience
• Review and recommend changes to augment current sponsor agreements or benefits

Time Commitment

6-8 conference calls /year (30-60 minutes each). Additional time to conduct phone calls, emails and other contacts necessary to acquire new and retain existing sponsors.

Action Items

• Potential sponsors: Identify and contact potential sponsors
• Retention: Follow up with emails, calls and/or letters to existing sponsors to encourage continued involvement and gain commitments for next year
• Promotion and benefits: Discuss overall sponsor benefits, potential additions and ways to add value to current sponsors as well as encourage full participation in all opportunities for involvement
• Recognition: Support efforts to recognize sponsors for their contributions at the conference and other participation, including sending thank-you letters to all sponsors after the conference
• On-site thank you: Conduct a thank-you reception at the conference to invite feedback for future consideration
• Survey: Develop a survey for post-conference distribution, discuss the results and implement valued improvements
