Credit unions deliver thousands of “Don’t Tax My Credit Union” postcards

With leagues and credit unions using postcards along with many other tools to urge continued support of the credit union tax status, The League of Credit Unions and Affiliates made sure that policymakers are getting the message.

Eastman Credit Union and United Southeast Credit Union met with Rep. Morgan Griffith, R-Va., at a recent Chamber of Commerce meeting and presented him with more than 2,000 cards signed by credit union members encouraging him to protect the credit union tax status.

Both credit unions offered members the opportunity to sign the cards in their branches. Eastman Credit Union—with branches in Virginia, Tennessee, and Texas—saw more than 11,000 of its members in all three states sign postcards within days of making them available.

“It’s just a start, we’re not finished yet, and we’re working in concert with our area credit union friends to make the message even stronger,” Eastman President/CEO Kelly Price said.

A printable Don’t Tax My Credit Union postcard is available in America’s Credit Unions’ Member Activation Program resources, which includes a “how to” guide. The cards contain a QR code directed to the Don’t Tax My Credit Union site.
