This session is an overview of how to manage cash in the cannabis industry. We will also explore best practices, hardware solutions, and current payment trends.

Speaker: Jean E. Gonnell

We will discuss the hurdles of working with cannabis companies both historically and today, with a summary of the main legislative bills currently in front of Congress. Additionally, we will review and analyze the HHS Letter related to rescheduling of marijuana to a Schedule III category, versus its current status as a Schedule I Controlled Substance.

February 6, 2025 // 1:00 p.m.

Speaker: Melissa Maranda

This session will be a discussion of the various issues in developing a cannabis lending program from a BSA/AML perspective as well as delve further into more complex compliance issues, such as how to lend to a Tier II or Ancillary cannabis business.  We will also discuss underwriting issues in making commercial loans to the industry as well as explore how underwriting and compliance often intertwine.
